Our mentor, Arun Kumar Basak, is the founding member of the organization. After spending almost 12 years at different managerial positions in multiple hotels, he founded the company in the year 1994. It started as a catering company with no fixed employees at that time. The company has seen many changes over the years and Mr. Basak has accepted them and implemented them in the company in terms of customer expectations, cuisine modernization, food décor and design etc.

Orion Caterer
Orion Caterer was established in 1994, when Mr. Arun Kumar Basak decided to utilize his experience in the hospitality industry into a business idea for his own city. Mr. Basak, had served many roles in multiple hotels including the Oberoi Palace, Kashmir. This exposure helped him set up his own catering business in Kolkata.
With almost no marketing efforts, this business ran as is and survived with organic customer growth till the year 2015. At this point, Mr. Subhojit Basak, assisted in the business and took the business online. Google, Facebook, Urban Company (Then UrbanClap), Justdial, Sulekha, Wedding Bazaar, Wedmegood - Orion had presence everywhere.
Orion stepped into the rings of Wedding Planning, which is a more competitive market and gained considerable success in that. The catering unit remains the same and is unaltered in terms of its way of working, food quality, personal attention to details, customer-deva-bhava attitude and its love for innovating new items and stepping into new cuisines. Although we have modernized our business to keep up with the fast paced industry, we still harbor traditional ways of working since catering requires both optimization and deep understanding of cultural aspects.

Subhojit Basak
Our director is Subhojit Basak, who joined the company in 2015, after graduating in Computer Science Engineering. He expanded the catering unit to Birthday Planning and eventually wedding planning. He continues to advise the company regarding optimizing budget, planning creative weddings, bringing global appeal to the catering unit etc. Customers have showered love for him over the years and a plethora of testimonials attest to that.

Snehasish Chakraborty
Snehasish is the youngest member of the Orion Team. Although he joined in 2022, he has worked on effectively every part of the company. He currently looks after client handling, social media and digital business development.

Banku Biswas
Banku aka the relationship manager has been working with Orion for 8 years. He is the favorite person in an event for the customers as he is the most approachable person in the company. He is the head of services handling manpower, catering services, kitchen unit integration, food décor etc.

Debu has been a part of Orion for more than 12 years. He is the go-to guy for any issues during an event. With immense contacts within and outside the industry, Debu is a gem for Orion.

Mohammad Amanath is the most senior person in our team and among our chefs. He is our most experienced Mughlai craftsman who has been associated with us for the past 24 years. It was his Biryani which helped us conquer the hearts of most of our clients and eventually grow our business.
